REASONS
WE LIKE BELMOND COMMUNITY APARTMENTS
- Staff is
excellent - They will call if there is a problem and will keep
you updated if needed.
- The option
of the noon meal in the dining room is good for its nutrition
and social contact.
- The Care
Car is a terrific service. Hats off to all those who volunteer.
- The long
hallways are great for those who like to walk inside; and there
are various places to stop and take a break or visit a bit.
- The housekeeping
staff has been great to deal with any mechanical problems.
- Since we
live out of state, it is comforting to know our mothers are happy
in a friendly atmosphere.
You can tell my husband and I like it because we keep sending more
people there. At one time we had two mothers and one step-mother
there at the same time. And that is in addition to a few aunts and
a couple of cousins.

I
would just like to take a moment and reflect on our local retirement
center. Over the past three years I have had the opportunity to
help place both my Mother and my Aunt into this facility. Both were
very hesitant and stated they weren’t sure they were ready
to leave their own homes. After many hours of looking at the apartments,
talking with other residents, and visiting with the staff, both
have finally moved in. We went through the issues of turning down
an apartment because “it isn’t what I want”. However
today, both are completely satisfied with their apartment and wished
they would have moved earlier.
They have found several of the services
offered, such an important part of their life; lunch at noon with
their friends, the availability of the Care Car, grocery delivery
by a local grocery store, to name a few. The facility is always
“looking its best”, due to the staff that keeps up with
the cleaning, repairs, yard work etc. A very big thank you to all
of you!
New friends and acquaintances have
been made; meeting them across the hall, putting puzzles together,
in the laundry facility, at lunch or playing cards and games at
the center. Everyone kind of “watches out for each other”.
The noon lunch is one of the social highlights of the day along
with playing cards in the afternoon. The entertainment, from the
young ones during holidays, in the center is also an attraction
and one that is certainly “marked on the calendar”.
Watching a great-granddaughter dance or the boyscouts, girlscouts,
and youth groups sing Christmas Carols. These groups should be encouraged
to continue such activities, as the residents love it!
Belmond
is so very fortunate to have such a place for our residents to retire.
Thank you to the early planners with the foresight to complete the
project, McBurney, Buseman, Rise, Redder - McLaughlin, and others
who have made this possible. After living and working in other communities,
it makes me realize how wonderful a small town we really have!
I thank you all for the wonderful
place and the peace of mind knowing Mom is happy and enjoying life!

Where would
you look if you had to find a new living arrangement - despite the
fact that you hoped you would never have to move again?
When
that happened to my 91-year-old mother as she was recovering from
a severe leg fracture in the spring of 2006, we found more positive
things at the Belmond Community Apartments than we could have hoped
for. As a result, she is able to be more independent than we had
thought possible. Among other things, there are congregate meals
to supplement the meals she can prepare for herself, community gathering
spaces so she can play cards and socialize, very clean public spaces,
management that carefully follows government mandates while giving
attention to individual needs, private apartments that are comfortable,
attractive, and have a surprising amount of storage, maintenance
staff that seems to respond almost as soon as you hang up the phone
with a request, and single-floor living to accommodate her walker.
With her driving days over, Belmond has a clinic, pharmacy that
delivers, grocery store that delivers, beauty shops, etc., etc.,
etc., and a community car to help her to do her own shopping in
town. Near the top of her list are all the friendly people there
who have made her feel like this really is a new home and one where
she can be happy.

As
family of apartment residents, we are very happy.
The
resident neighbors are like an extended family and look out for
each other.
When weather is bad, they don't have
to go outside and risk falls.
The congregate meals on-site, the grocery delivery, inside mail
and laundry facility are all a plus.
For
socialization, the Center community activities keep them emotionally
and mentally
stimulated.
If anything needs repaired, it is done promptly. The common areas
are kept very neat.
We feel so grateful such nice, economical
housing is available for our seniors.

My
mother is Doris Greenwood and she has been living at the Leinbach
retirement Center for almost 14 years. She decided to move there
because she no longer wanted the up keep of a house. She has enjoyed
it so much and we could not be any happier about having a place
like it for her. We have found that the center is a family in itself.
It seems that they have activities going on that you can be involved
with as much or as little as you want. Our mother has been known
too have stayed up pretty late for a good game of cards with her
friends! We also appreciate the fact that she does not need to worry
about having a vehicle for doctor or any other appointments because
they supply a care car for all residents. We are just thankful that
she is in a place where she is comfortable and secure and when she
comes to visit us she doesn't need to worry about leaving her home.We
do get in trouble with her card group if we keep her to long though.I
feel that everyone seems to help watch over each other just like
a family would. We just couldn't be happier with the staff and the
facility that the center has provided for the community.
